ATW Community Outreach

Theatre Artists in Service to the Community

The public programming of Actors Theatre of Windsor (ATW) has two core components: ATW Main Stage and Actors Umbrella.  As a professional theatre company with a responsibility to the community which supports us ATW is committed to ensuring we all move forward together.

Actors Umbrella
The community outreach arm of ATW.  Actors Umbrella is committed to access to information and resources in order to sustain the growth of the theatre community at large.  Actors Umbrella initiatives involve ATW taking a leadership, support or behind the scenes role on a number of strategic outreach projects.

The ATW Actors Umbrella Projects for 2007 are:

  • WHAT'S ON Windsor-Essex:
In conjunction with the Connecting Windsor-Essex™ community portal and with assistance of the Arts Council Windsor Region, ATW Actors Umbrella is still working to further solidify a central online Arts & Culture Calendar for the Windsor-Essex region at www.Windsor-Essex.info (under Culture / Arts).  In Phase II of this project, a printed version is envisioned. For more information see Special Projects.

  • Production Classes 2007:
With the generous support of The Coffee Office, 1361 Ouellette Avenue, Stage Management Workshop (Part 1) will be offered over two weekends in July, August and September. (co-developed with Val Bonasso in response to canvassing local theatre companies regarding training in the area of Theatre Roles & Responsibilities). Stage Management Workshop (Part 2) will be offered by Erin Grey in August, September and October. For more information see Theatre Production Training. To register, email us at info@actorstheatreofwindsor.com.

  • Artist Training 2007:
Actors Umbrella in conjunction with St. Clair College, will present a seven-week Audition Preparation for Musical Theatre course on Saturday mornings in the Fall 2007 / Winter - Spring 2008 sessions at St. Clair College Main Campus. For more information see Artist Training.
  • Windsor International Fringe Festival Committee:
ATW Actors Umbrella initiated an exploratory committee to develop a Windsor International Fringe Festival in 2006 and this committee is finalizing the application to establish a festival in downtown Windsor this fall. A decision will be rendered as to our inclusion in the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals in November 2007: if accepted for CAFF, the ATW Board of Directors will evaluate whether there are enough assets and funds available to go ahead with the festival in 2008 or 2009. For more information see Windsor International Fringe Festival.
