The Gail Ray el Baroudi Grant

for Children's Theatre

To increase accessibility to theatre for school-aged children, each fall, ATW offers $1000 to a local or touring theatre company, producing children's theatre to allow a group of Windsor-Essex school children to attend their production without cost.

September 2008

The 2008 Gail Ray el Baroud Grant for Children's Theatre was given to Belzebrute Theatre Company from Montreal for their French-language performance of "Shavirez le tsigane des mers" for 300 grade school children from grades three to eight, at at a french- language grade school in Windsor. This performance took place on Friday, September 26, 2008 and was delivered on site at the children's school.

December 2007

The 2007 Gail Ray el Baroudi Grant for Children's theatre was given to Riverside Theatre Company so that 165 Children grade 1 & grade 2 students from two schools in Windsor could attend their production of Peter Pan on Friday, December 14. The grant covered the costs for a school bus to and from l'Essor Amphitheater, and attendance at Riverside Theatre's production without cost to the participating students.

December 2006

This Children's Theatre Grant was given to Korda Productions for their Christmas Pantomaime, "Cinderella, the unauthorized Panto." Korda productions produced two additional performances of this show so that children in schools near the Mission Theatre in downtown Windsor could attend the show without cost. 660 children were able to attend this performance. As students were at schools within walking distance from the theatre no busing costs were included.
